Rethink the Runway Weekly Recap 05.12.2025
Reflecting on Threads of Change: A Sustainable Fashion Exhibition
Hi friends, we’re still riding the high from an incredible week at Rethink the Runway 💫 From celebrating our creative partners to spotlighting our own amazing team and closing the week with heartfelt gratitude for the designers of Threads of Change - here’s what went down last week:
🎨 Tuesday: Silkscreen Dreams with HolyStitch
Ever wanted to try your hand at silkscreen printing? Our friends at HolyStitch are opening their doors for a hands-on intro workshop, Silkscreen 101, happening Tuesday, May 13 from 4–6 PM at their iconic Market Street space.
Whether you’re a total beginner or a curious creative, this class offers everything you need to start printing your own custom designs — from screen setup to pro-level ink techniques.
We shared support posts on Instagram and LinkedIn, highlighting the power of DIY fashion and community-led creative spaces.

💚 Wednesday: Meet Emily Le, the Heart of Our Ops
We also spotlighted a core team member who quietly powers so much of what we do: Emily Le, our People Operations Manager. As part of our General Oversight and Volunteer Management teams, Emily brings structure, empathy, and thoughtfulness to every aspect of RTR.
She’s passionate about fashion as self-expression and has recently started sewing and reworking thrifted pieces into new life. For RTR 2025, she’s excited to keep building community and refining our internal systems.
We’re so lucky to have her on board 💫a
🌿 Thursday: A Grateful Look Back at Threads of Change
Our Threads of Change exhibition during SF Climate Week still has us glowing. It was an honor to showcase designers who are using culture, memory, and new technologies to reimagine fashion’s relationship with the planet.
Thank you to these incredible visionaries for making it unforgettable:
unspun (featuring Vega™ 3D weaving technology)
Recology AIR (featuring works by past AIR participants)
Oakland School of Arts (featuring 5 student designers)
Fafafoom Studio (by Mira Musank)
Empress Vintage (featuring Janina Angel Bath)
Herderin (by Alexandria Vasquez)
Nyna (by Nayana Kodesia)
Paul Gallo of City College of San Francisco
Natalie Walsh of Climate Designers
From 3D-printed jeans to mourning jackets and wearable protest, every piece told a story of reinvention and resilience. Please look forward to our Threads of Change: A Sustainable Fashion Exhibition event recap later this week!
The picture collages are assembled using pictures by Christopher Williams / On Brand Images during the Threads of Change Reception.
We’re deeply grateful for everyone who showed up - to learn, to create, and to celebrate slow fashion with us.
As we look toward RTR 2025, we carry this momentum and magic with us.
Until next week,
RTR team
