As we gear up for starting our Spring 2025 program, Rethink the Runway has been making waves with exciting announcements, partnerships, and events. Here’s a recap of what’s been happening:
Empress Vintage Shopping Event – April 13th
Reserve your spot: https://lu.ma/z1jro23d
We’re thrilled to partner with Empress Vintage for a special shopping event on Sunday, April 13 in San Francisco’s Mission District. Janina Angel Bath, the visionary behind Empress Vintage, has curated a stunning collection of timeless, high-quality vintage fashion with sustainability at its core. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to shop unique pieces and support conscious fashion.
RTR Team Feature: Aparna Ranesh
Meet Aparna Ranesh, a key part of our Marketing & Community Partnerships team. As a product marketer, Aparna is passionate about shifting fashion towards sustainability. With enough clothing produced to dress the next six generations, she believes in raising awareness about fast fashion’s environmental impact and inspiring young people to embrace circular fashion practices like repair, recycling, and upcycling.
We’re lucky to have Aparna driving change at RTR—stay tuned for more from her!
Fibershed Fashion Show Update
We’re excited to share an update about our Half-Day Retreat: Exploring Regenerative Food & Fiber Systems on April 18 at the Fibershed Learning Center. This event will feature a special fashion show with Atelier Herderin, KOSA, Seek Collective, and Fafafoom Studio, all creating pieces made from Fibershed’s regenerative fabrics.

We are proud to partner with Fafafoom Studio, led by textile upcycling artist and RTR Program Director Mira Musank. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Fafafoom Studio is dedicated to reimagining, repairing, and refashioning textiles, transforming discarded materials into unique, high-fashion pieces.
Their work blends Western haute couture with East and Southeast Asian aesthetics, a reflection of Mira’s cultural heritage and style influences. Since 2018, the studio has diverted over 300 lbs of textile waste from landfills, recirculating materials back into the community and inspiring a circular approach to fashion.
Fafafoom Studio will be an integral part of Rethink the Runway’s fashion showcases in April. Its first showing will be at our Half-Day Retreat: Exploring Regenerative Food & Fiber Systems on April 18, 2025, at the Fibershed Learning Center. Fafafoom Studio will showcase a mini collection crafted from Fibershed’s regenerative fabrics, highlighting the power of upcycling and circular design.
Mira Musank’s creations will be showcased in two more RTR events during SF Climate Week 2025. We are thrilled to spotlight innovative approaches to sustainable fashion, and look forward to featuring Fafafoom Studio upcycled creations at SF Climate Week 2025 and beyond!
